The current situation in Beijing shows a progressive destruction of its historical fabric in contrast with the advance of a new city without identity or complexity, losing so many important aspects of the historical city such as social cohesion and traditional ways of life. As an answer to this problem, we propose a mix of tipologies. This kind of proposed city will work against the monofunctional city with high towers, trying to recover the human scale of the city.
ā
The problem will be tackled from a generic view point, trying to rescue the essence of the vitality of the hutongs, starting with two opposite situations of organisation in block. A fractal model of the block is the algorhythmic organiser of the structure of general plot, which protects a large green heart.
ā
The project types arise with the aim of providing solutions, from an architectural and urban point of view to the problems of modern society, a changing world whose models are in constant transformation. Before considering an area of such significance as the Financial District, we have focused on this from a much earlier point of view. Whereby we have decided to address the new and complex ways of living from a generic model capable of adapting to any site. In order to achieve this adaptation, from the generic to the defined present city of Beijing, we start with tatami measures as the minimum unit, which generates the following basic level: the room. The tatami figure gradually broadens and becomes more complex until it reaches a more complete model which responds to a repetitive model on different scale.

First steps each member of the team had to draft their own proposal to discuss it, get an agreement and develop the final tender afterwards ______________________________________._._._._ THE BLOCK
