refuge in the desert
High Technical School of Architecture, Valladolid 2013
Refuge “La Portada de Antofagasta”, located on the Atacama desert, Chile.
The project approach is based on the integration into a specific landscape, where the section acquires an essential value as the opposite of flatness, the horizon and the cliff.
Strip of land arise like an artificial mountainous nature, a milestone within the nature.
The main path is parallel to the steep cliff, a natural and vertical wall.
Load bearing concrete walls, parallel lines which define fluid and diaphanous spaces. Second skin in the room areas as parasol, which at the same time provides texture to the solid wall.
